Lion Dance and God of Fortune Packages: The Easiest Way to Celebrate CNY at Work
Quick answer: A lion dance and God of Fortune package pairs a lion dance with a costumed Cai Shen (财神), the God of Wealth. The lion brings energy and the blessing ritual; the Cai Shen greets guests, poses for photos and hands out lucky items. For CNY 2027, one lion plus a Cai Shen costs $488–588, and two lions plus a Cai Shen cost $588–888.
This is one of our most popular CNY packages for offices, residents' networks and family events. It needs the least space and planning of any combination, and it gives everyone, not just the people near the lion, a moment to take part.
Who is the God of Fortune?
Cai Shen is the Chinese God of Wealth, recognisable by his red and gold robes, official's hat and gold ingot. During Chinese New Year, people welcome him for prosperity in the year ahead. At an event, the Cai Shen is a friendly costumed character. He bows, offers festive greetings and poses with guests.
Why the two acts work together
The lion gathers everyone in one place. The Cai Shen keeps the celebration going once the drums stop, which avoids the awkward "what now?" moment after a lion dance.
Three ways to schedule them
Office blessing
Cai Shen greets staff at reception as they gather → lions perform cai qing and the blessing walk → group photo with both.
Annual dinner
Lions open the evening → Cai Shen visits each table during dinner for photos.
Customer event or open house
Lions draw a crowd at the entrance → Cai Shen stays at the door to greet visitors and hand out items.
What you need to prepare
- For the lions: cai qing items (1 lettuce, 12 mandarin oranges, 2 ang bao, 1 red plate) and 2 oranges plus an ang bao for each desk or area to bless. You prepare these by default; we can supply them for an add-on fee.
- For the Cai Shen: any items you want handed out, such as chocolate coins, mandarin oranges, red packets or branded gifts. Tell us in advance so we can plan the handout.
- For photos: a well-lit spot with a festive backdrop and space for a small group.
